March 29: Bhutan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Tshering Dorji presented his credentials to the President of Sri Lanka Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse on March 17.

After the credential presentation, Ambassador Tshering Dorji called on the Prime Minister Ratanasiri Wickremanayake, the opposition leader Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe and the Foreign Affairs Minister.

A news release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says during the meetings, they discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations and other areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

The Ambassador also met with Bhutanese students studying in Sri Lanka.

On March 3, Ambassador Tshering Dorji presented his credentials to the President of the Maldives Mr. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He also called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

Discussion during the meeting focused on matters of mutual interests and ways to further enhance the close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
