September 1: Three Bhutanese youth will be taking part in the first International Junior Golf Championship in Vietnam later next month.
They are currently being trained by a golf coach from the United States.
Ziwang Gurung from Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School, Dechen Ugyen from Nima Higher Secondary School and Karma Dorji Samdrup from Dr. Togbyal School will be representing Bhutan in the first International Junior Golf Tournament to be held in Vietnam.
The tournament will take place on the September 27-28.
David Havens who has been training them for the tournament for the last five months said they were selected from over 60 junior golfers.
Apart from teaching them how to hit good shots David Havens said he is also teaching them how to teach the other junior golfers and how to manage the golf course.
David Havens said the tournament will be a learning experience for them. Once they return from the tournament, other junior golfers will be able to learn from the three of them.
The three selected juniors said that they are practicing every day and they hope to do well in the tournament.
The tournament is being organized by Nick Faldo, a golfer of international fame. According to his official website, the international junior golf championship in Vietnam is open to players from Asian countries and will present new opportunities for young golfers.
