October 07: Sale of beef in Sarpang was banned since June this year following the outbreak of foot and mouth disease. However beef is still available on the menus in hotels and restaurants.

The ban on the import of poultry products is also being violated.

BAFRA officials said despite strict vigilance and inspection at every entry point, people manage to import banned products.

BAFRA officials said sometimes military vehicles are involved in importing meat. They said they can’t do anything since they are not allowed to inspect military vehicles.
