September 24:The Bhutan Info Com and Media Authority has issued a warning letter to Bhutan Times for violating the provisions of the code of conduct for journalists.
The warning letter was issued after Bhutan Times carried an explicit picture of a seven month old fetus on the front page of their 17 September edition.
BICMA says the picture is emotionally disturbing and offensive to public taste and sensitivities.
Bhutan Times has been given one month to provide an editorial justification for carrying the picture of the fetus.
BICMA has also issued Bhutan Times and Kuensel another letter on the bitter attacks the two papers launched against each other on the news article on the salary revision.
BICMA officials said repeated offences can lead to the seizure or cancellation of the business licenses.
Responding to the warning letter on the picture of the fetus, Bhutan Times said they will be more sensitive and careful in the future.
