BAFRA officials seize spoiled packaged cheese

October 11: Officials from the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority have seized forty packets of spoiled Amul cheese from Grocery shops in Gelephu yesterday.

The cheese was seized following complaints from local residents. The residents complained that the cheese have been attacked by fungus.

The spoiled cheese with batch number K160 and K166 were manufactured in June this year.

BAFRA officials said it could be because of improper packaging by the company.

However shopkeepers said the packet did not show any sign of damage. They said they bought the cheese from wholesale dealers in Gelephu.

BAFRA officials disposed off the products in the presence of wholesale dealers and grocery owners.

BAFRA officials said they will issue a seizure list to the grocery owners so that they can reclaim the loss from their wholesale dealers.
