September 13: The Government is gearing for the Centenary and Coronation celebrations. The National Steering Committee for Centenary and Coronation Celebrations (NSCCC) says that they are prepared for the main events.

The celebrations will begin on November 6 and go on till December 17.

On the occasion of Centenary and Coronation celebrations, Bhutanese people from all walks of life will get the opportunity to participate in a wide range of public events and functions.

The coronation of His Majesty the fifth Druk Gyalpo will take place on November 6. The NSCCC says the public can offer Thridhar to His Majesty at the Ceremonial Lounge of the Tashichhodzong on the day The celebrations will continue at the Changlimithang Stadium on November 7 and November 8.

The Changlam and the Norzin Lam road will be closed to traffic during the celebrations to ease the flow of traffic. Changlam road will be filled with food stalls and souvenir shops.

There will also be entertainment stages at various locations in Thimphu including one at the Yangchenphu ground, the Clock tower, at Dechencholing and at the Royal Institute of Management in Simtokha where the public will be able to witness musical concerts, street theatres and dramas.
