January 29: A 25-year-old man has died and a 15-year-old boy injured when the taxi they were traveling in went off the road at Yongma Chorten Brak in Lhuentse. The accident occurred at around 11am yesterday morning.

Our reporter Dorji Dema says the deceased, who was driving, died on the way to the Lhuentse hospital.

Dr. Cheda Gyeltshen said he died from profuse internal bleeding. He had also sustained chest injury, a fracture on the lower jaw and injury on his left eye.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old boy is being treated at the Lhuentse hospital.

Dr. Cheda Gyeltseh said the boy suffered bruises on his forehead and on his legs and hands.

They were returning from Lhuentse when the accident occurred. Our reporter said the Maruti van has plunged about 100 feet below the road.

The cause of the accident is not known. Police are investigating the case.
