September 5: An 80-year-old man died on the spot when the hilux he was travelling in went off the road four kilometers from Chundzom towards Thimphu.

The accident occurred around noon on Wednesday. There were three people in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The hilux fell 270 feet below the road and landed in the Wangchu river. The vehicle was on its way to Thimphu from Haa.

The driver and the other passenger were referred to the National Referral Hospital.

The Medical Superintended Dr. Pandup Tshering said the driver suffered multiple cuts and scratches. He said the injured driver was discharged yesterday.

Meanwhile the 23-year-old passenger is still in the hospital. Dr. Pandup says the man is in a stable condition.
