6th PMC meeting concludes

The 6th Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) meeting between Bhutan and India concluded on Tuesday with the signing of the minutes.

The minutes of the 6th PMC meeting between Bhutan and India was signed by the India’s Finance Director, Arun Kumar Chatterjee, and the Director of the Department of Bilateral Affairs, Kezang Wangdi.

The two day meeting reviewed the progress of Government of India assisted projects in 9th five year plan including the release of funds. The Indian Government has released 81 percent of funds, which comes to Nu. 70,352 million for the projects in the 9th plan. The remaining 19 percent- Nu. 1700 million will be released for the remaining four months of the 9th five year plan.

A news release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the GOI assisted projects are progressing satisfactorily with most projects expected to be completed within the 9th plan period.

India’s Finance Director Arun Kumar Chatterjee said they are satisfied with the progress achieved in most of the sectors which the GOI has been giving assistance to Bhutan and in the remaining four months of the 9th five year plan of Bhutan.

The next Project Monitoring Committee meeting will be held in September.
