44-year-old woman drowned in Samtse

July 28: In Samtse, a 44-year-old woman died after she was washed away by the Sipsu River. The deceased who was from Jemercot village in Beeru geog was retuning to her village from the town when the accident took place.

The incident took place at around 5 pm on Saturday, July 26. She was crossing the temporary bridge when she slipped and fell into the river.

The Sipsu Gup Ranjeep Gurung told BBS that the Sipsu River had swollen due to continuous rainfall. He was informed about the incident by the residents.

The body was later recovered 300 meters downstream.

The Gup said the woman had gone to the school in Sipsu to sign her child’s mid term examination results. She is survived by three children.

The deceased’s husband was electrocuted a few years ago.
