318,465 registered voters for National Assembly elections

March 6: The Election Commission released the final electoral roll for the National Assembly elections yesterday. According to the final electoral roll, there are 318,465 registered voters for the National Assembly elections.

The final electoral roll was released by the Chief Election Commissioner Dasho Kunzang Wangdi at a press conference yesterday afternoon. The final electoral roll contains all the details of all the registered voters.

According to the electoral roll, there are 318,465 registered voters for the National Assembly elections. Of that 161,169 are female registered voters and 157,296 are male registered voters.

The Gelephu constituency under Sarpang dzongkhag has the highest number of registered voters with 11,803 registered voters. Goenkhatoe-Laya constituency under Gasa dzongkhag has the lowest with 768 voters. 36,313 voters are eligible for postal ballot.

According to a press release from the Election Commission a copy of the final electoral roll will be given to each candidate contesting the National Assembly election through the head office of the political parties.

It will also be made available for public inspection at the office of the election commission and on the website www.election-bhutan.org.bt. The final electoral roll has been prepared into voter’s list for each polling station.

The news release says the voter’s list is crucial to verify the identity of voters and for conduct of free and fair elections.
