10 licenses seized for selling tobacco products in Thimphu

10 trade licenses were seized in Thimphu after the shops were found selling tobacco products. The surprise inspection was carried out on Saturday.

The surprise inspection was carried out following complains from general public on sale of tobacco products in Thimphu. The National Steering Committee and the Sub-committee consisting of Health, Road Safety and Transport Authority (RSTA), Thimphu City Corporation, Royal Bhutan Police carried out the surprise inspection. The inspectors covered shops in Changjiji to Motithang and the main town area.

The team went around every pan and grocery shops. Trade licenses of 10 shops were cancelled and these shops were imposed a fine of Nu. 10,000 for violating the rule on the ban of sale of tobacco products.
