December 14: Trashigang dzongkhag has close to 46,000 eligible voters. Of the total, about 33,600 have registered with the Election Commission.

Our reporter Dorji Dema says of the total registered, 3,582 are eligible for postal ballot.

The returning officer of Trashigang dzongkhag Dr. Tenzin said he received 2,945 postal ballot applications. Only 1,369 have been verified and are eligible to cast their vote using the postal ballot.

He said the remaining have been rejected because they were not on the list of people who are eligible for postal ballot and some had applied using the old citizenship identity card.

Some applicants did not have proper mailing address while others have submitted the old postal ballot forms that were used for the mock elections.
